When doing your best is not enough…

I believe, whatever doesn’t kill you simply makes you…stranger” (the Joker in “Batman, the dark knight”, movie produced by Christopher Nolan)

Maybe you have noticed that many people respect you only when they know that you are doing your best at working.

The crazy thing about this is that they cannot know if you are doing your best or not. There is no reliable evidence of your good will. Just depending on their emotional situation and how much they trust you, they will respect you or not.

Also, what do you mean by work? Work can have many aspects that you cannot see. Most of the work that is done is hidden from everyone. It happens inside of you. For example, trying to not become crazy is already a work.
Some people are ready to sacrifice their soul and mind integrity, just to show how good they are in doing something. These people are just pretending to do their best, but they actually have a lazy soul. Caring just about the external side of things, just to be accepted by other people, is a bit like lying and cheating.

Now, there is another problem. When you become very good at something, you generally become bad at doing some other things. So even if you work very hard, there will still be someone believing that you are not doing your best or at least are not very valuable, because people are incredibly skilled at noticing the things you are not very good at doing.
Jesus also pointed out that crazy attitude: “Why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but fail to notice the beam in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while there is still a beam in your own eye?. (Matthew 7:3)

No matter how hard you train or work, you will always do mistakes, whether you can see them or not. No matter how honorable you are, there will always be people blaming you for your weakness. Because, whether you like it or not, you are limited by your body and you cannot be “godly” perfect.

This is why, you have to be very brave, even a hero, in order to truly improve your existence as a human being.
Suffering is inevitable, but you can choose whether you want to suffer as a crazy person or as a honest person. If suffering does not kill you, be careful to what you turn into: “What doesn’t kill you, simply makes you… stranger!” (The Joker).

You can work as hard as you can. Some people just won’t respect you until they don’t see you being destroyed by your work.
Sadly, many people allow themselves to be destroyed by their work. So they end up even weaker than before, being a weight for the society while trying to “stay strong” and be respected by other people. What a contradiction…

In this article, I wanted to show part of the craziness that lives inside most of us. I think everyone should feel at least a bit concerned about this.

When we witness someone’s weakness/mistake, we can either blame him/her (because we think we are better than him/her), or try to support him/her to become a better person. What do you choose ?
